Baptiste is also a problem solver I feel, but he's acutely aware that one of the best ways to solve problems is a big hug. I don't imagine he's quite as good at the emotional turmoil as the top two, but his willingness to always listen and, more importantly, be there for you sees him land the bronze medal in this made-up l

In Overwatch 2, both loot boxes and Credits are gone. Instead players will need to buy a new currency, Overwatch Coins, with real money. Coins can be used to buy the seasonal battle pass which includes about 80 items, or spend them directly on the items they want. A legendary skin costs 1900 Coins, or roughly $19. You can earn a total of 60 Coins every week by completing all of the weekly challenges. There are no Coin rewards on the battle pass, nor any other method for earning co

Unlocking old heroes only applies to new players, but going forward the battle pass will come into play. With that, free players will need to grind to unlock heroes, while premium players will get them automatically. It seems to go against Overwatch’s greatest strength that some players can have access to so many more heroes, and so much earlier. Of course, it might seem like Overwatch cannot win. I’ve just complained that it is opting for the sequel model, and now I’m criticising it for going down the seasonal route. Maybe that’s just it though. Maybe Overwatch cannot win. It was the perfect game at the perfect time, and it feels impossible to think it might ever recapture that ma

They wouldn’t even be the exception to the rule, either. Mercy’s skin is based on the history of healers, taking inspiration from Florence Nightingale, while Zenyatta’s is a deep sea diver because… well, I’m not sure. It looks cool, I gu

To new PvP maps were revealed, Rome and New York City, as well as details about the longer PvE maps designed for Story Mode. Each mission will have its own custom map that features day-night cycles and weather conditions. One of the missions shown during the deep dive featured a snowstorm that progresses throughout the level until it ends in a massive battle amidst a blizz

Overwatch 2 is free to play, so in theory it’s not too much of an issue that it’s an entirely new game. Splatoon and Call of Duty both charge full price for their updates on what came before, and [https://Overwatch2Fans.com/ Overwatch 2 events|Https://overwatch2fans.com/] 2 at least avoids that. But it doesn’t mitigate how dated Overwatch 2’s structure already feels, and how much that contrasts with how the initial game felt at launch. Overwatch is a hero shooter, and part of its popularity has been the affection for its heroes, not to mention how differently each of its roster plays. There are characters with pistols, shotguns, bazookas, ice blasters, revolvers, sniper rifles, mech suits, and bows and arrows, but whatever the weapon is, Blizzard seems dead set on aiming them all directly at its f

Blizzard released a trailer for Forged in Barrens that details some of the new cards and keywords coming later this year. You can pre-order the new set now for $49.99 or upgrade to the mega bundle for $79

On the surface, the game is making all the right decisions. Both versions of the battle pass are packed with skins, sprays, charms, and a variety of content that outweighs anything its predecessor had in its first few months. Seasonal events are established, and an existing roster of heroes we’ve already fallen in love with have a generous roster of cosmetics and lore to build upon. I’m already invested, and for Blizzard that is half the battle right now.

That’s an issue for another day though. Today, I want to focus on the Archives skins, particularly those of our queer characters, Soldier 76 and Tracer. The Archives event is running until April 27, and brings eight new skins to the game, each designed around a given character’s cultural history. Both Soldier 76 and Tracer are included in the event, but it’s extremely telling that neither of their cultural histories includes any reference to queerness. Soldier 76 is becoming Soldier 1776 which, I admit, is a good pun. The American soldier is donning the jacket of the Revolutionaries, these days probably best known from the musical Hamil

Despite my praise for the designs, Overwatch is not a game with in-depth characters - it’s all skin deep. Any attempt to flesh them out usually comes through fine print in the lore, promo reels, or external material like comic books. I understand why fans want these great designs to be built upon further, and I appreciate that a hero shooter all about utilising powers and fast PvP play is not the ideal genre for deep, interconnected stories. Overwatch has two queer characters, which is more than most triple-A games, but it’s hard to give it too much credit when their queerness has been so completely downplayed. It’s often lauded for its diversity - it even once had a GLAAD nomination - but that fact is its two queer characters are white, cis, and straight passing, while there are more playable animals and playable robots than there are playable Black women. That’s not too much of a stretch though, given that there are zero Black women in Overwatch’s heaving roster right now - Sojourn will join in Overwatch 2, but that feels too late for a game with playable 32 charact
